The Struggle (La Lucha)

The Struggle (La Lucha)

One time I couldn’t even eat it was scary
It was cause I use to drink two diet cokes daily
Soda should come packaged with a warning attached
I wanted to take em to court but my lawyer’d be no match
Ya need one more reason against Coke in your mind
They profit from human rights violations in Palestine
In the third world they murder those who union organize
In the US they act like change that you can’t do it
They don’t believe that in Mexico with the Zapatista movement
They don’t believe these palabras – they don’t believe it in Nicaragua
You can have your own opinion but not your own facts when you habla
Governments in most places wiped out their native population
People photograph their castles when they take a vacation
We need a permanent vacation from the dominant culture
If ya listened to my rhymes and ya heard me I showed ya
This is resistance culture – like Colorado it’s Bolder

HOOK – It’s war up on the street – it’s war – it’s war
It’s war up on the street – la lucha continua

We need to turn sexistas y racistas into Zapatistas
La policia corrupt – they beat up many ghetto residents
Cops misdirected anger should be directed at the presidents
No so well paid enforcers of all the federal orders
A lot are racists – miseducated about our world without borders
Este mundo esta loco – have you ever done anything
to change it un poco? – we AFE
that means artists for equality – apathy – that’s something
psychopathically that bothers me – earth’s life’s all connected
all of us should be mad at acts that that 1% did
it’s no argument that stands up against human decency
- - how can we have a world where people are starving
and obesity – it needs to be a movement to get equal
and united – the struggle needs people like you to fight it
with determination like Che – Malcolm X or Huey Newton
- - King – Leonard Peltier – SDS – lets get it movin
allies disagree but agree (that) we need to see solutions

You might think it’s fine it might seem where you reside
But take a dive in my lines and spend some time wit my rhymes
Hellen Keller was a socialist who told the truth about the system
They’d listen – and at that time they’d remind her she was blind
Cooperation not competition’s is the way it’s been missin
It’s the position – new edition – it lit the way to fruition
Capitalism’s an attack on our human nutrition
And the biggest capitalists Coke and McDonalds are the richest
What’s the value of this business givin poison to kids livin?
- the rich - can’t stay rich - without workers to do their biddin
without payin workers less than they deserve in their position
people in the first world want them name brand clothes
they was made in sweatshops by little kids that sew
and they keep tyrants in to keep labor laws away
to keep their profits up and see justice (stay) astray
these tyrants are put in to power by the U S A
some third world workers flee and you see ‘em today
they came here cause they thought our workers rights are the way
so they could stop bein abused at where they used to stay
- - one day – - they might have a family reunion
- - here there’s a chance of a job with a union
(the US causes immigration then they start discriminatin)

40% of the world eats one meal a day
while the rich they throw out they food at buffets
what more can I say we at war with everyday
with a system that charges you money to be livin
- rich countries – run the world bank and build tanks
they bailin out the banks they not bailin out the poor
make levees not war – pick a side who you for
- every day up on the street – it’s an information war
